I have been coming to this Garcia’s barbershop for over a year now. Juan Carlos has always done an amazing job when I come in. He is the son of the owner, and they are both very kind, humble & always make sure I am satisfied with my haircut before I walk out. I would definitely recommend coming and getting a haircut from him or Mr. Garcia.
Owner's response
Thank you so much.

Juan is the best. He's been taking care of my fade for the last 5 years. Coming into Garcia's Barber Shop is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

First time was a great experience. The barber did an awesome job based on a picture of what I wanted my hair to be close to. I didn't have to wait and the shop is on a corner for easy access.

Thank you.

Juan Carlos is always flexible, understanding when things happen and you can’t make it. Been coming here since I was a kid in HS and his dad use to cut my hair. Best barber in LA hands down.
Owner's response
Thank you for supporting us.

I only came here because my regular barbershop is closed for the holidays. I asked for a 2 at the top faded to a 1 on the sides. It’s something I shouldn’t need to show a photo for but even still I did. He set it at a 2 and it removed almost no hair then he went down to 1 1/2 and it did not remove anything at all so clearly his clippers are not calibrated. It’s way too dark at the top to be a 1 1/2. But I didn’t want to risk him messing up the faded blend from that point. I have wavy hair so you definitely need to run a comb through it to agitate the hair up because my hair lays down. Instead, he just brushed it in the same direction with a soft brush which lifted nothing. The edge up is decent but in the front it’s not fully straight and he didn’t put any water or lubricant on my face before using a dry razor blade to line up. Ultimately I’m not impressed. I’m black & white mix and it seems he doesn’t have much experience with this hair type as he didn’t even comb it before cutting it. Mostly I’m annoyed he didn’t cut to the numbers I asked. He showed me the clippers said 1 1/2 so his clippers need to be replaced because this is the darkest 1 1/2 I’ve ever seen. Most likely I’ll just have to get another haircut in two days when my shop opens back up. Black or mixed raced people, I don’t recommend at all that you go here. It wasn’t the worst haircut ever, the side fade is okay, it’s acceptable. but I shouldn’t have to go home the same day to trim my hair down shorter the same day I got it cut. I basically have the same length on the top as when I walked in. 50% on him 50% on the clipper numbers being way off.

Arrived at opening time as a walk-in, was told that I would have to wait because the employees present were taking appointments only. I was told the new walk-in only employee would arrive 30 minutes later. I had to wait an additional hour for the "new guy" to arrive, while some of the other employees had down time and could have given me a cut instead. The new guy, nicknamed "butterfingers" finally shows up and already his equipment is failing and dropping it as he sets up. The guy lacked experience and knicked me and left my haircut patchy. First and last time coming here. Update: dear owner, thank you for replying. I will acknowledge that I was informed about your appointment system as well as the other employees not taking walk ins to accommodate their already scheduled clients. I will disagree however, on that particular walk-in only employee arriving on time, as he arrived almost an hour and a half after opening shop (I was told he arrives at 9:30 and given updates that he was on his way and was running late - arriving until 10:20) I also respectfully disagree with you on harassing said employe when I an indicating facts on this incident, unless you can prove otherwise. I am sure that your other employees are great; I remember seeing your own work on a client while I was waiting and was expecting the same quality. Unfortunately that was not the case during my visit. Thank you for your time.
Owner's response
Hello Ricardo, we have an appointment system in place as we do not take in walk-ins . The barbers that seemed “available” were waiting for their scheduled appointments. Due to our barber shop policy they are not able to take on clients if they can’t finish the haircut on time for their scheduled sessions. I’m sorry that your experience was unpleasant due to not scheduling an appointment beforehand. On the day you went we happened to have a barber that was accepting walk-ins. Since he accepts walk-ins he arrived to work on time. Degrading our employees is unacceptable. We are a family business and as such do not tolerate bullying behavior.

I've been coming here since I can remember getting my first haircuts. My father brought me here as a toddler and I haven't let this place go. This is definitely how a barber shop should be, and regardless how busy or far I have moved I still find time to come down. Many barbers have come and gone but the core of Mr. Garcia/Ramon and JR still makes this my barber shop of choice even if it's 65 miles away.
