Leigh did such a great job cutting my hair from long to medium-short. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do when I walked in, just wanted to cut a lot off, and Leigh listened to my issues I've had with previous shorter haircuts I've had elsewhere and give me something I really love that works with my hair.

Nolan is fantastic. Amazing human being, and very skilled. Helped me figure out the right cut and style even though I didn't know exactly how I wanted the end result to look when I walked in. Highly recommend any of the stylists here.

Not a place for normal people to get a haircut. They made me wait at least an hour and listen to people drop the word "like" for just about every word they say only to tell me they don't have time for me because i don't have an appointment. I was the only one waiting there. These people are SICK and absolutely no manners!

I always get good haircuts here- and Nolan gave me the best hair styling advice last time I went! He was so knowledgeable about curly hair and explained so much to me. 10/10.

I started going to queer-owned hair salons because I was tired of being judged for the haircut I wanted, but unfortunately I had the same experience here. To be fair, the first stylist I saw here was great, but then I couldn't get an appointment with that stylist again due to issues with Folklore's scheduling system. So I started going to a different stylist here who did an okay job cutting my hair, but my most recent appointment was the last straw. The stylist told me I was their last appointment of the day, spent only 10 minutes cutting my hair, and then insulted me and the haircut I wanted when I asked them to give me what I requested. It felt like they let their mask slip because they just wanted to go home. It's pretty nasty to think that the stylist I saw for about a year was probably judging me the whole time and couldn't even bother to hide it for 30-45 minutes while they cut my hair. Never coming back here due to the unprofessional behavior, scheduling issues, and lack of a welcoming environment.

I came in for a long haircut. Trey was perfect. He gave me styling tips for my straight/ curly hair and I'll have to go back for the product he used. To top it off, the price was super affordable for a long cut.

Had an appointment for 1:45pm was told the stylist was running about 15 minutes late. They ended up not starting on my hair until about an hour later. The haircut turned out okay, but they did not pay much attention to the reference photos and cut it much too short. Not the best vibes in general, there was a few comments that made me feel not great. I was really disappointed because I wanted to love this place. Iβm sorry to say it but being that late is just unprofessional and disrespectful.

Perfect, perfect, perfect. After seeing my daughter's haircut by Leigh I knew I would get a good cut. But their haircut supercedes all haircuts that came before. A brief history: I was a Toni and Guy Santa Monica Training school customer a few years ago. One of their supervisors explained to the student the difference world patterns in my hair (which I remembered). I found out Leigh completed their training at Toni and Guys! Leigh asked a few Q's about what I wanted (I started off saying I wanted to "look like a seal at some point with hair short and flat against my headπ, but for now something shoulder length and easy to manage". They listened so carefully! And then they gave me the perfect layered haircut. I have an acquaintance at the dog park in Santa Monica who is a very successful hairstylist And she has told me more than once now that my hair cut is masterful! My next review will be when I get rid of all my hair and Leigh makes me look like a seal. π€ Requested style I said crazy stuff from Goldie Hawn to Florence Henderson from the Brady Bunch Specialties Toni and Guy trained. Hair type Type1 straight with no curl until now! Stylist Leigh is the best stylist I have ever had.

This was my second time going to Folklore and being helped by Nolan. I was struggling for a long time trying to find a salon that I felt comfortable in as a masc presenting woman getting a haircut that isnβt necessarily traditional. Nolan not only made me feel confident in my decisions but comfortable with what I wanted to be done. Definitely will be coming back. Thank you Nolan!

This is the first salon I have been to where I felt like they truly listened to me. Jenna was amazing! They gave me great suggestions for caring for my hair, taking into account my sensory issues and lifestyle. The 40 minute drive is so worth it. I wonβt be going anywhere else.
