I had a walk in with ulises and after going to empire for so many years I thought I'd sit at his chair and it was so disappointing, I asked for a basic haircut and it was uneven, I asked to have my beard blended and he forgot . We didnt speak throughout the haircut so it was awkward, he was more interested with convos with the other barbers. He didnt spend much time shaping the cut or seemed to care about small details I wanted it was such a waste of $60 for a haircut I couldve did myself at home. After a decade of going to empire Im looking for another shop after this.

Called ahead to ask if they took walk-ins. The guy that picked up said that they did. He said you can also book an appointment online. Then I said, are you guys taking walk-ins this afternoon (it’s 4pm and they close at 7pm per their website which I looked up ahead of time). He said, this afternoon isn’t bad. I said great, I’ll be right over. Drive over 15 minutes. I get there and I say I’m there for a walk-in. The guy says sorry we are busy we are not taking walk-ins. I said I just called ahead and was told you guys were taking walk-ins. Then he says, oh you are the person I just talked to, I said you should check online for appointments…I said, “and then I asked if you were taking walk-ins and you said it wasn’t busy”. I told you I was coming right in. This was a total waste of time. The communication had been crystal clear on the phone. They were taking walk-ins on the phone but not 15 minutes later when I showed up. I don’t respect businesses that don’t respect people’s time.

Hi Miguel, we do in fact take Walkins daily. There are barbers dedicated to take care of you. We also do take appointments. We apologize for the confusion and errors in communicating clearly with you. We appreciate your call, your willingness to come in and we apologize for the inconvenience. We do close at 7pm on Sunday and for that reason we would love the opportunity to earn your trust and business. Feel free to ask for a manager and we will be sure to make up for this!

I’ve been coming with Alexis for the past few months and every time I get cut up by him he always gets me right. Straight consistency and quality from Alexis.

I asked for a tapered haircut (which I always have had with other barbers) and this one I got is not a tapered cut. Totally not worth the money I paid.

Nick hooked me up fat, I brought him a northern NY Amish beard and he got me looking like I was born right here in the bay (which is was lol) He really took his time and went above and beyond. Empire Barbershop is the only place I've let touch my beard in the last 7 years that I've been growing it. Hit up your boy Nick, he'll get you straight

I came in wanting to get a tapered low fro. I show him the pic of I want. He goes and cuts it all off. He does it aggressively… i could tell he didnt care at that point. He then proceeds to take pictures of my haircut. Like bro, I dont even like the cut. He ignores that and takes a couple more pictures!! Bruh. He said I showed him a short cut. I showed him the pic again and he goes “oh my bad bruh, i didnt see that.” Like he either was trolling or really didnt understand how to cut it (even after being shown a picture) he charged me 0 on the house..(ok fair enough) still gave him 40 bucks…cause im awesome

Just wanna give a shout out to AJ! Very welcoming and well spoken. I'm new to the bay area since I'm here for college. Asked what I wanted and delivered a great quality back. Loved how he was holding a conversation throughout the cut and telling me his story on he got into being a barber. Very humble and a cool guy! I will for sure be booking with him on my future hair cuts.

I’ve been getting my haircuts with Alex for a while now, and honestly, I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Alex is the real deal, professional, talented, and always consistent. He takes the time to listen to exactly what you want, and he somehow makes it even better than you pictured. The attention to detail is next level, and you can tell he takes pride in his work. Plus, the vibe in the shop is always welcoming and laid-back. If you’re looking for a barber who knows what they’re doing and actually cares about making you look your best, Alex is the one. Highly recommend!
