I haven't been to an actual barber in like 14 years so I didn't know anything about what to say and what the cut i wanted done was. After a little description of what I was looking for he told me exactly what the cut i wanted was. The actual shop, although hidden, was worth every bit of time it took to find it. The interior was nice and elegant, not overcrowded with unnecessary decorations, just what was necessary to keep you occupied while he cut my hair.

Riyad is a great barber who takes his time and does a very detailed, great job. He spent a full hour on me for a basic haircut. The fade he did is extraordinarily even—every hair seems to be exactly the intended length. He's also a very friendly, personable guy. I highly recommend him.

It is a wonderful barbershop with a relaxing atmosphere and skilled barber. I have visited many barbershops in the Bay Area during my two years of residence, and I have finally found a place where I feel at home. After each haircut, I feel confident and ready to take on the week. The barber takes his time and does not rush the process. He also has an excellent choice of music, which adds to the overall pleasant experience. I highly recommend this barbershop to anyone looking for a great haircut and a relaxing experience. You will not be disappointed.

Coming from San Diego, I was nervous to get my first haircut anywhere else than the barber I would go to back home. But after going here I was very happy and satisfied. The barber was professional, gave every ounce of his attention to the style in questions and made sure to satisfy what my style of hair was aimed toward. Now as for the critiques: 1) arrived ~10 minutes early for a 6:50 appointment, to get my appointment started at ~7:15. Resolutions? Yes, the barber was able to recognize that time error, and accommodated my hair needs beyond expectation — and was professional about it. 2) PRICE!! Back home the price for haircuts was a flat rate at 50$, here the rate was 55$ for a simple haircut and the taxes that follow (~5$ tax) brought it up to ~60 — it’s expensive for sure. 3)** Hard to find building — but this is not a critique of the business, just an observation. So make sure to follow the alleyway. And for the Pros: 1) I mentioned to him that “I felt like you were doing art on my head” and it truly was that, amazing work. 2) when I asked him what “type” of taper he did, he said “I just followed what looked good [on you].” And trust this man’s judgement! He was able to deliver on the style of your likeness, big kudos. Now this may seem like a basic thing to follow in principle… but trust that not many barbers would do that type of work on a stranger — I felt like I was a longtime customer. 3) Lastly… amazing music. Jazz in combination with other music is very nice Overall: amazing place to get hair done.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting my haircut by Riyad a couple of times and can say it’s the best quality haircut I’ve had in a long time. He is super precise, takes his time, and makes sure you are satisfied with the cut. Highly recommend checking him out if you are new to the city or haven’t found a reliable barber.

Since moving to the bay from LA a year over a year ago, I’ve been in search of a skilled, and consistent barber in the Bay Area. After trying a few local ones and being disappointed, I finally found The Finest Styles barbershop in Berkeley and I’ve been a loyal patron ever since. Riyad is professional, personable, and like I mentioned, CONSISTENT. He takes his time and makes sure you leave with the cut you asked for 👌🏾

It has been a long time since I have had my hair cut so I was incredibly nervous to look for a new barber. Riyad was so meticulous and calculated - you can tell he has a respect for the craft. Great tunes in a lowkey venue that will send you off feeling refreshed. I highly recommend this business!
